Understanding the Roles: BPM vs. ABPM vs. Dak Sevak
Each post carries distinct responsibilities within rural postal networks:
- Branch Postmaster (BPM): Overall head of the Branch Post Office (B.O.). Responsibilities include managing daily post office operations, handling India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) financial services, promoting government schemes, maintaining accounts, and managing overall logistics in assigned rural areas.
- Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM): Assists the Branch Postmaster in administrative and operational work. Responsibilities include over-the-counter sales of stamps and stationery, processing mail delivery, handling IPPB transactions, and outdoor promotional activities.
- Dak Sevak: Focuses primarily on last-mile delivery. Responsibilities include mail sorting, parcel delivery, door-to-door banking service delivery under IPPB, and assisting staff in Head or Sub-Post Offices.
Eligibility Criteria
10th Pass: Must have passed Class 10 (Secondary School Examination) from a recognized Board with passing marks in Mathematics and English.
Local Language Requirement: Must have studied the mandatory local language of the applied Postal Circle up to at least Class 10.
Desirable Requirements: Basic computer operational knowledge, cycling skills, and access to adequate means of livelihood.

3. Upload Required Documents: Formats must match portal guidelines.
Upload a recent passport-sized photograph and your official signature image in the prescribed file sizes and formats.
4. Pay Application Fee & Final Submit:

Selection Process
- No Exam Policy: Selection is based purely on the automated system-generated merit list derived from Class 10th marks/grades.
- Grade/CGPA Conversion: Candidates having CGPA or Grades must convert them to marks using standard formulas (e.g., CGPA multiplied by 9.5) as specified by their respective boards.
- Tie-Breaking Rule: If two candidates score equal marks, priority is given in the following order: Older Age > Female/Transgender > Reserved Category Priority.
- Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted in the merit lists will be invited for document verification at designated divisional offices.
