Selection Process

Getting a job in the Indian Railways requires passing a clean, transparent, and highly competitive three-stage selection process.

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): Stage 1.

This is your primary filter. It is an objective, 100-mark multiple-choice test consisting of 100 questions to be answered in 90 minutes. Be careful: a negative marking of -1/3rd mark applies for every wrong answer. It will be available in English, Hindi, and multiple regional languages.

2.Document Verification (DV): Stage 2.

If you clear the CBT merit cutoff, you will be called to verify your identity, technical certificates, age proof, and caste/category credentials against your original paperwork.

3.Medical Examination: Stage 3.

Railways demand strict physical and visual standards (such as A-3, B-1, or B-2 medical fitness levels depending on the specific post). Pass this, and you are on the final merit list.
